Founder/CEO
Mahdia Daqiq
Mahdia Daqiq first learned how to code in 2015 at Make School, and she fell in love with it. Since then she has been coding in several languages including Swift, Python, and JavaScript. She has shipped serval Products to the app store, one of which is Salaam, an app that helps raise awareness about Islamophobia. She is also a published author and her poetry collection, sweet and sour, is now available internationally.
Mahdia started planning AGB in the summer of 2015 when she learned about the gender gap in STEM fields. She was also shocked by the number of Afghan people, especially Afghan girls, who had no idea what programming was. She then decided to found AGB and give those who are most in need the opportunity to learn about programming. She held the first session in the winter of 2017 in Kabul, and it was a huge success. Mahdia now has new plans for the future of the program; she is hoping to expand it to more provinces in Afghanistan.
